J.J. JOHNSON Partner, Producer and Director J.J. Johnson, 27, is a founding partner of Sinking Ship and an award-winning creator, director and producer of seven children's series including his debut series, the 2005 Alliance for Children and Television Grand Prize winner This is Daniel Cook.
Other series include season three of the This is... series, This is Emily Yeung which airs in over 80 territories; Roll Play, an imaginative movement series featuring the Famous PEOPLE Players and supported by the Heart & Stroke Foundation; I Dare You! a children's exercise program featuring Daniel Cook; and The Jungle Room, a preschool reality series set in a real day care facility.
Currently, J.J. is crisscrossing the globe directing and writing the second season of his worldwide adventure series for kids hosted by kids entitled Are we there yet?: World Adventure, in association with National Geographic and with the support of UNICEF.
J.J. attended the School of Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University where he barely graduated in 2002. In addition to his duties on This is Daniel Cook, J.J. also served as the writer on the series companion website, the Prix Jeunesse winning thisisdanielcook.com. J.J. also produced companion websites for Roll Play (rollplay.ca) and Are we there Yet?: World Adventure (arewethereyet.tv).
J.J. has appeared on CTV's evening news, CBC Radio, TVO's More to Life and was selected as one of Playback Magazine's Top 10 to Watch for 2006, he also sits on the board of the Alliance for Children and Television. Next up for this prolific creator is preproduction on Daniel Cook's epic new dinosaur series, Dino Dan, set to debut Fall 2009 on TVO and Nick Jr.
